Thank-you Chris, well still digesting your last post you put this on the table, I now know how long it takes to read 9000 words and marvel at the fact that you put this all together in such a short time. You cover the history of these trustees well, it is a time period I actually lived through, your presentation certainly prompted some memories.
Thanks so much, for this piece.
Just an aside I really think we're too kind to Di lanni and Mancinelli in your last Sewer, their type should be stomped on for their duplicity and arrogance or you never be rid of them. Case in point Di lanni, how long ago was he tossed out? Your knowledge may be better than mine but I believe he is the most defeated politician in history of the City , save Bob Mann. What will it take to rid ourselves from this obsequious person, garlic and a wooden stake?
This is an outstanding observation of how we got to where we are, and of how the position of school trustee no longer holds the reins of power in determining the direction or voice of the community.
The school trustee’s once sharp teeth have decayed to ineffective mumbling gums due to the masses being fed saccharine Conservative pap; pap intended to undermine and destroy the power of the community to determine and forge its own identity and future of our children.
Schools have been degraded from being places where our children were once encouraged to develop higher level thinking skills to what are now overcrowded, dank institutions whose purpose is to feed the Conservative machine intended only to turn our children into low level labourers that will acquiesce to and not question their purpose or role in society.
Students, at all levels, from JK to PhD, should be able to be freely educated to the highest level of their ability. The role of the school should be to provide the supports and structure necessary to ensure that this happens. The role of schools is not to turn out workers to feed the privileged, Conservative money hungry corporate machine.
